Title: When Chaos Reigns: The Critical Role of Security in Global Crises

Description:

What’s Next: From Black Swans to Unknown Knowns

Security professionals evaluate risk through many lenses. What keeps them up at night are the Black Swan risks that come seemingly out of the blue and are only understood with the luxury of time and hindsight. However, some issues are well known but seem only tangentially related to security. These “unknown knowns” are well-documented, but their effect on security seems remote. Understanding the impact of these events playing out on the world stage—including resilience in the face of disaster, global conflict, and climate change—can make all the difference between an adequate security program and an extraordinary one.

Join your colleagues during three Game Changer sessions designed specifically to explore trends that will shape security’s future.

Wednesday, 25 September | 9:45 am – 10:45 am

When Chaos Reigns: The Critical Role of Security in Global Crises

Disasters continue to erupt around the world—wars, famines, natural disasters, civil and social unrest. Combine these with the reputational risk in operating a business in these environments, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) becomes a critical lens on risk. What started as an investment approach, ESG is now a framework for organizations to look at global strategy. Soon, security will be expected not only to quantify ESG efforts, but also include them in everyday responses. In this session, a panel of experts will deliberate the role of security in ESG and its related reputational risks.

Learning Objective #1: Appraise how responding to crises can affect a company’s reputation.

Learning Objective #2: Discuss ESG concepts to resonate with all stakeholders.

Learning Objective #3: Prepare security stakeholders/teams to think strategically around ESG and reputational issues.

Type: Game Changer
